Holy Week Devotion Services
One of the high points, spiritually, of our Christian year here at Christ UMC is the Holy Week meditations. We meet each week day at 6:30 am for a time of devotions followed by a breakfast. (Sometimes it’s a simple breakfast, other times a feast, but it is a time of fellowship and thoughts about the events occurring during that last week in Jerusalem).
The following is the schedule for Holy Week Early Meditations
Monday - Devotions - Linda Larson
Breakfast - Louise Toole; Pauline Nielson
Tuesday - Devotions - Valerie Burgan Breakfast - Bill & JoAnn Gold
Wednesday - Devotions - Jim Holcomb
Breakfast - Darlene Gardner; Isabel Blossom
Thursday -Devotions - Meredith Anderson Breakfast - Lois Baker; Phyllis Meade
Friday - Devotions - Special Worship in the Sanctuary Marilyn Sheffels and Pastor Bill
Breakfast - Sharon Suek; Rita Kelly; Maxine Robertson
Each year the people who participate in the Joint Maundy Thursday Service (Thursday, April 17 at 6:30 pm) talk about how meaningful it is and wonder why we usually have more people in the choir than in the congregation.
When I first heard about the Joint Service, I had my questions. We sit around a table and have communion? How does that work? But after experiencing the worship, I was deeply moved. What a wonderful experience! The Joint Choirs sing beautifully. There are readings by members of both congregations and the experience of sitting at the communion followed by the darkening of the church as we prepare for Easter weekend is deeply moving.
This year the service is a half an hour earlier because we want our children to experience this service as well. If you participate in no other Holy Week Worship this is one you will not want to miss.
Appointment of Sami Pack to Choteau-Pendroy
Sami Pack grew up in Sheridan, MT and attended Christ UMC while attending the University of Great Falls. She was an active part of the congregation and it was her time with us that Sami discerned a call to ministry. She was accepted to Duke University Divinity School and will graduate May 10 with her Master of Divinity degree. Sami will then return to the Yellowstone Conference and will begin her first pastoral appointment to the Choteau & Pendroy UMC’s on July 1. We pray blessings upon Sami and celebrate her journey into ministry.
